History of Eco Park Kothwalguda

Kothwalguda Eco Park was developed by Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) as part of the city’s broader commitment to urban greening and eco-tourism. The vision was to transform this ecologically significant land into a world-class destination. The foundation stone was laid by K. T. Rama Rao in October 2022, and the park was opened to visitors in March 2026.

1. Walking the elevated boardwalk – The most iconic feature of Eco Hill Park Kothwalguda is its 1.5 km elevated boardwalk. The walkway is said to be the longest of its kind in the country, and it’s as thrilling as it is scenic. It’s 2.5 meters wide, and it offers sweeping views of the green park below and the Himayat Sagar Lake in the distance. Walking its full length is a highlight of the visit, and the views from here only get better as you go higher.

2. Interacting with birds – Another of the celebrated attractions in this park is the Deccan Birds Aviary. Spread across 5 acres, it’s one of the largest walk-through aviaries in India. About 6,500 birds from 25 species live here, sourced from different parts of the world, including Africa, South America and Australia. It can be an extraordinary visit for bird lovers and kids.

3. Exploring themed gardens – Kothwalguda Eco Park in Hyderabad features several themed gardens within its premises. These include the Japanese Garden, Rock Garden, and Butterfly Garden, among other ecological zones. Nearly 10 lakh plants and trees have been planted across its lawns, gardens and recreational areas. Kothwalguda Eco Park Timings and Entry Fees

This Eco Hill Park is open from 9 AM to 6 PM every day of the week. The most comfortable time to visit it is in winter, from November to February. The evening hours are the best for exploration. You can spend at least 2-3 hours, and more if you intend to explore the aviary.

Kothwalguda Eco Park tickets cost ₹100 per person for adults and ₹50 for children (below 12 years of age). The aviary entry is an additional ₹150 per person on weekdays and ₹200 on weekends.

Kothwalguda Eco Park distance from Hyderabad city centre is about 20 km. It’s located along the Outer Ring Road near Himayat Sagar Lake. It’s 19 km from Hyderabad railway station in Nampally and 25 km from Secunderabad Junction. And from both the Mahatma Gandhi bus terminal and the Hyderabad airport, Eco Park Kothwalguda is 18 km away.

By bus – Local city buses take you to Kothwalguda Eco Park Hyderabad, via the Outer Ring Road corridor. Rajendra Nagar is the nearest bus stop, around a km away from the park’s entrance.

By auto/e-rickshaw – Auto rickshaws and e-rickshaws are available from nearby localities to the park. They make the park easily accessible from the city.
